6/30/2023 0 Comments Earman river postHe did not want a funeral with sadness and crying. We are planning a celebration of life for David and will post on Facebook as soon as we have all details. Any amount will help and will be appreciated. David did not have a life insurance policy so we are asking for help from our family and friends. It's very expensive to transfer a body from Charleston, WV to this area and also pay for cremation too. Right now our immediate goal is to bring him home to Berkeley County so we can say our goodbyes and have him cremated. Our family is devasted and heartbroken over losing him and need to understand what exactly happened. He was on medication and had a procedure on his heart last year. He had a stroke in 2019 but had recovered except for some memory and speaking issues. It's very possible he had another stroke or a heart attack since he had heart problems. We will not receive those results for months. There's an investigation on going into his death and an autopsy was completed. He had no identification on him and no one had witnessed what had happened to him. Unfortunately our mother received a call last week from a detective in Charleston ,WV that said our brother, David was found passed away near Pennsylvania Ave on steps leading to a river bank. I contacted hospitals and jails with no luck. I tried to get in touch with people he knew there but no one knew where he was staying. He called me on June 19th from a friend's cell phone to tell me he was okay and would call me again when he had any updates on his plans. ![]() He had written me letters, sent a post card and called from the facility a few times while there. He left the halfway house due to over crowding and was looking for an alternative living arrangement where he could continue his AA meetings. He had completed a 30 day program and was staying at a half way house. My older brother David Earman was in Charleston, WV in a recovery program due to his alcohol addiction from the end of April until end of May.
